In this week’s spotlight for our “Meet the Team at Headway” series, we’re introducing someone who’s been with the company since day one: Slawek - Director and Co-Founder of Headway Property Investments.
From the early conversations that sparked the idea, to the hands-on maintenance that keeps our properties running, Slawek has been integral to shaping Headway’s growth and ethos.
From Export Desks to Property Portfolios
Originally from Poland, Slawek’s journey into property has been grounded in a wide-ranging set of skills and roles. He began his professional life working in the export department of a restoration firm for listed buildings back in Poland - a role that demanded organisation, precision, and an eye for quality.
After moving to the UK, he took on various construction roles and eventually became a maintenance manager at an indoor climbing wall, where he learned to solve problems on the fly and manage the unpredictable. These experiences built a foundation of versatility and resilience.
“The combination of office and hands-on work gave me the confidence to tackle almost anything that comes up in property,” he explains.
Starting Headway
The idea for Headway Property Investments came from years of conversations with his long-time friend and future business partner, Michal Kuziorowicz. Together, they saw a gap in the market and knew they had the experience, work ethic, and vision to do things differently.
“I wanted to work for myself, test my skills, and ultimately create more financial freedom,” Slawek says. “From the very beginning, I knew this was something worth building.”
Life at Headway
Today, Slawek’s role as Director is central to Headway’s day-to-day operations. His responsibilities are diverse – and constantly evolving - but some of the most critical areas he oversees include:
Managing utilities and council relations across the entire property portfolio
Troubleshooting maintenance issues as they arise
Coordinating purchases for white goods and key supplies
Organising cleaning inspections and shifts for our team via InventoryBase
His strength lies in getting things under control before they become problems. “I enjoy knowing that by staying on top of the little things, I’m helping the entire company run more smoothly.”
A Day in the Life
No two days look the same for Slawek. Balancing his part-time role at the climbing wall with his Director duties at Headway means he’s constantly shifting gears, prioritising, and adapting.
“Each day is different, depending on what’s needed,” he says. “Sometimes I’m deep in admin, other days I’m sourcing parts, solving maintenance issues, or handling schedules. I often work late into the evening to keep things on track.”
His favourite part of the day? That satisfying moment when something challenging finally gets resolved.
Reflections and Future Goals
For Slawek, one of the biggest lessons in property has been about patience and perseverance. “No matter how overwhelming a problem might seem, it’s always possible to resolve it - as long as you stay focused and give it time.”
He values the supportive, team-driven atmosphere at Headway, and finds purpose in helping provide tenants with high-quality homes.
Looking ahead, his goals are to continue learning, building confidence, and helping Headway scale to new heights. He’s especially keen to expand his technical skills and embrace new systems that improve the way the business operates.
Life Beyond the Business
Outside of work, Slawek stays active and grounded. He’s passionate about hiking, gardening, cycling, and running - with a special love for spending time in nature.
He’s also an enthusiastic home baker, often experimenting with new types of bread, and has a growing interest in photography. Whether it’s capturing a scenic landscape or tending to his garden, he finds peace and creativity in his free time.
